If you are a California resident who purchased a heating pad between 2006 and 2013 manufactured or distributed by Kaz, you may be entitled to $20 as part of a class action settlement award.
In Beck-Ellman v. Kaz USA, Inc., plaintiffs alleged that the packages of Kaz-manufactured and/or distributed electric Heating Pads were misleading and lacked information that a consumer would use to determine whether or not to purchase the product.
Specifically, the packaging did not state that the Heating Pads could cause burns when used in common positions or ways. The lawsuit also claimed the packaging violated California and Pennsylvania consumer protection laws.
The Plaintiffs further claimed that Kaz violated California, Pennsylvania and federal warranty laws by selling a product that cannot be used normally; for example, while sleeping, reclining or lying on your stomach.
The heating pads or their packaging at issue were labled with “Kaz,” “SoftHeat,” “SmartHeat,” “Dunlap,” or “1-800-477-0457”
As part of these class action settlements, eligible class members can claim $20 as a settlement award.
No proof of purchase is necessary to make a claim.
