In an order dated December 4, 2012, Judge Friedman approved a $374,700.00 budget for the Ombudsman for work to be performed in the six month period between September 1, 2012 and February 28, 2013.
This money does not come out of the administrative costs fund used to pay the settlement administrator but rather comes directly out of the fund set aside for the benefit of class members. In other words, the Court is allowing the Ombudsman to dip into $375,000 of your money and get paid while you wait for news on if you’re even approved.
Based on the Ombudsman’s last report, I’m not so sure they deserve that kind of money, especially out of the class members’ settlement fund. What are your thoughts?
The order does not mention any potential date for distribution of checks to class members.
