The Ombudsman has updated its website…
The Ombudsman in the In Re Black Farmers Discrimination updated its website on June 20, 2013. The update does not provide a lot of new information, which wouldn’t normally warrant an update on MySettlementClaims.com but there were some interesting changes in the statistics.
On March 26, 2013, the Ombudsman stated that the evaluation of claims was still ongoing and that “There is no exact timeline for completing this review, the notification of claimants, or payment to successful claimants.” Now, the Ombudsman states that “There is no exact timeline for payments to the class. The claims process, however, is moving forward.”
Also, the Ombudsman now states that “The evaluation of the claims packages is complete.”
Interestingly, in March the Ombudsman stated that Claims Forms had been timely submitted to the Claims Administrator by about 38,144 claimants. Now, the Ombudsman states that the number is actually 37,925. It’s not clear if there are less timely submissions now because some claim forms have been newly rejected as untimely or if there was simply an accounting error.
Further, in March the Ombudsman stated that Claim Forms submitted by about 33,871 class members are complete. Now, the Ombudsman simply states that “Claim Forms submitted by class members are complete.” We don’t have any statistics as to whether the 33,871 number has also changed.
Stay tuned for further updates.
